A Wonderland of Animal Life
Olompali's oak woodland and oak savannah intermingle within the park and support similar assemblages of wildlife. High foliage height and density and a diversity of plant species support an abundance of animal life.
The oaks provide food for mule deer, scrub jays, band-tailed pigeons, and acorn woodpeckers. Natural cavities in older oaks provide nest sites for western bluebirds, western bulebirs, western screech owls, white-breasted nuthatches, and western gray squirrels. Western skink, racer, and gopher snake are common reptiles, as are fence lizards and alligator lizards.
From Coast Miwok Village To State Historic Park
A new online site, Historic Olompali, allows you to tour the park's historic Camilo Ynitia Adobe and surrounding grounds from your computer or mobile device. Interact with twenty four 360-degree panoramic views of the park and walk through the grounds and historic buildings. Rich imagery and descriptive information will inspire you to learn about Olompali as you explore the site.

Friends of Olompali Cooperating Association was founded to help California State Parks interpret, preserve, protect, enhance, and develop the natural, cultural and aesthetic values of Olompali State Historic Park. What makes Olompali so unique is its 8,000-year continuous human history and its changing land use over time. Pick any point in history, and there are stories to tell at Olompali!

Olompali State Historic Park is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Directions:
The park is just west of Highway 101 three miles north of Novato
If you are coming from the North on Highway 101, take the Atherton Ave/San Marin Dr exit, turn right at the stop light and follow the signs to the frontage road that leads to the park.
If you are coming from the South on Highway 101, take the Atherton Ave/San Marin Dr exit, turn left at the stop light, cross the overpass and follow the signs to the frontage road that leads to the park.
